Best Places to Stay in Devon

There are some frankly awful places to stay in Mid Devon. But here are a few places that we thoroughly recommend and which would fit in well with tours of foodie places locally. Try these first!

  • www.quoit-at-cross.co.uk/: Farmhouse B & B at our friends Roger & Linda Hill, about 15 mins from the vineyard, in a lovely peaceful part of the Exe Valley. Also good for exploring Exmoor, Bampton and Dulverton.
  • www.devonwineschool.co.uk/: Really smart and contemporary rooms in a converted barn at Alastair and Carol Peebles' Devon Wine School. Each room named after a wine area of France. Very much in keeping with a tour of Devon vineyards! Highly recommended. Also close to good food pub Cadeleigh pubs where you can try our wines with locally sourced and sympathetically cooked food ( which is still quite rare in Mid Devon !)..
  • www.eastbarton.com: A few hundred yards from the vineyard is Jim and Pam's farmhouse with a nicely converted apartment for 2-4, just off the A396.
  • Fursdon House, Fursdon, Cadbury, Exeter, Devon EX5 5JS - about 2 miles from us, is a superb country house and garden with two self catering apartments. Phone: 01392 860860, fax: 01392 860126.
